IBBR Co-Director David Weber Selected as MPower Professor
Dr. David Weber, Co-Director of the Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research (IBBR), Director of the Center for Biomolecular Therapeutics (CBT), Director of the Maryland Center for Advanced Molecular Analysis (M-CAMA), and a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, with a joint appointment as Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the UMCP College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences, was appointed as an MPower Professor. A total of six faculty members from the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland, Baltimore were selected as 2022 MPower Professors, which exemplifies their commitment to fostering collaborations between institutions.
Dr. Weber’s research examines the structure, function, and inhibition of potential therapeutic targets in cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and infectious disease. He had a major role in developing highly collaborative and world-class structural biology resources that integrate basic and translational science. He earned his PhD in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and received a BS in Chemistry from Muhlenberg College.
