NIST scientist Dr. Ryan Nieuwendaal addressed the March 2024 dinner meeting of the Chemical Society of Washington (CSW) to introduce PANIC, the Practical Applications of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) in Industry Conference. Dr. Nieuwendaal serves as the current Chair of PANIC as it enters its tenth year. Ryan's description of PANIC was followed by the evening's keynote talk on machine learning applications to NMR of biotherapeutics given by IBBR's Dr. Frank Delaglio, also a PANIC organizer. In attendance was IBBR scientist and PANIC organizer Dr. Subrata Mishra, IBBR scientist and Associate Prof. Jaekyun Jeon, and fellow PANIC organizers Dr. Kristie Adams and Dr. Savanah Shumaker, who also serves as a CSW Manager-at-Large. The event was hosted at the American Chemical Society's Washington DC Headquarters by CSW President Prof. Lauren Ragel. Recognizing the need for a forum where industry NMR scientists could discuss practical problem solving, PANIC was co-founded by Dr. John Marino, who currently serves as Co-Director of the Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research.
