NIST BMD Seminar: "Validation in Forensic Science: Finding the Balance"

There has been much debate in recent years about the need to demonstrate the scientific validity of methods used in forensic science. Equally, the need to ensure that neither innovation nor problem-solving within cases is stifled by ‘bureaucratic processes’ has been increasingly debated.

In this presentation, the need for balance, with a risk-based, purpose-focused approach will be discussed. The skills and knowledge required by practitioners to approach effective validation will be highlighted.
