Lecture Series: Toward Personalized Medicine in Schizophrenia: Clinical Trials Targeting Specific Biomarkers and Patient Populations
Event Info
Event Details
While significant advances in schizophrenia treatment have occurred, novel treatments have been slow to advance to the clinic. The disease construct is broad and may consist of several distinct disease pathways suggesting that targeted treatments and personalized medicine may be important and a critical consideration in drug development. This talk will discuss the concept of target of engagement and treatment targets to link to disease outcomes and how this strategy may lead to drug development. Within this framework, she will focus on a few lines of work that involve modulation and measurement of the immune system, inflammation, and oxidative stress. Rationale and clinical trial design will be discussed as well as the concept of personalized medicine.
